    Description

    Seax "Beagnoth" with leather sheath
    Seax "Beagnoth" with leather sheath
Replica of an Anglo-Saxon 9th century seax. The master was found on the River Támesis in 1857 and is currently on display at the British Museum. That’s why it’s also called Thames scramasax. The leaf is complexly decorated and features a runic inscription. On one side you will find engraved the entire Runic alphabet, on the other side the word Beagnoth, which is supposed to be the name of the owner or blacksmith of the seax.
Our replica is very close to your master. The blade has a narrow but deep fuller. The wooden handle is fixed at the angle with brass rivets and reinforced with two brass rings.
The blade is not sharp. The delivery includes a solid and authentic beef leather case.
