    Description

S.P.Q.R. Viking sax knife. carbon steel
S.P.Q.R. Viking sax knife. carbon steel
This handmade sax knife from the Viking Age, also called a broken back sax because of its special blade shape. It has a sharp sheet of carbon steel and a wooden and bone handle with a ferrule and a brass stopper. The cap has a practical buttonhole to hold a carrying strap or to easily remove the knife from the holster (a leather strap is included). Keep in mind that bones and wood are natural products and that deviations in color and/or veins are quite normal. Therefore, there is no one handle like the other in this Viking Saxo and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
The short sax comes with a beautiful cover made of hand-dyed leather vegetablely tanned with richly decorated brass accessories. The transport system consists of two conveyor rings, a belt distributor and three leather straps. In the Viking Age, transport systems of this type were widespread. The belt distributor was used to distribute the individual straps in such a way that the saxophone sword or knife could be carried at an optimal angle on the belt to be quickly removed from the sheath.
It should be noted that the blade is sharp and fully functional. Therefore, this sax is not suitable for exhibition combat and is only designed as a collector’s item or decorative object.
