It should be noted that the blade is sharp and fully functional. Therefore, the knife is not suitable for display combat and is only designed as a collector’s item or decorative object.
The term Damascus steel describes a composite steel made of two or more different types of steel. The name is derived from the Syrian city of Damascus, which is considered the ancient fortress and origin of Damascus steel production. Typically, a high-carbon hard steel and a low-carbon soft steel are joined by repeated welding to the fire and folding. Carbon-rich steel ensures higher hardness, better temperability and greater edge retention, while softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and greater resistance to breakage. With this technology, which emerged in an era of poor and changing steel qualities, you can combine the positive properties of different steels.
