We sprinted the opposite way
Most companies try to appear larger than life
It's completely forgettable. You would drive right by our nondescript woodshop without noticing a thing. There's a small welding business and a utility truck storage company adjacent to us, and we all know each other pretty well.
We're the "percussion folks" around here, and we're just as much BFFs with our HVAC guy as we are with music industry people (just ask James, who runs the business).
That's because we own and operate our woodshop which allows us to fine-tune and experiment with every last detail of crafting exceptional percussion instruments and mallets.
On the surface they may seem simple, but a lot of care goes into delivering you
fantastically
great feeling mallets that play consistently and with exceptional sound. From our facility to our people to our materials, every element plays a huge role.
The one size fits all approach
We made these mallets for everyoneprofessional orchestral percussionists, community band members, teachers, sound healing therapy practitioners, students, casual playersyou name it.
Using the finest materials around with decades of experience from our small crew (most of whom are pictured above), their balance and response are made to lift your playing in virtually any situation.
Simple done extremely well
We love clean, elegant and high-class designs. We're sort of obsessed with them. That's why we developed these mallets to really look the part before you even pick them up to play.
Their hand-stained birch handles with delicately rounded edges and precision placed heads are accented by a small rubber sleeve bearing the Timber Drum logo. A subtle reminder of our "Made in America" distinction.
The Timber Drum Co. Soft Rubber Mallets tech specs
Sold in pairs
1" soft rubber heads
Hand finished solid birch handles with rounded tips
15 1/4" overall length
Each mallet weighs 1 ounce
Hand-crafted for a balanced feel
Great for log drum, melodic percussion or other instruments that require a light touch
Made in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.
Made in Nashville, Tennessee with solid birch handles and soft rubber heads
Head materialwhere to use
With some give and a gentle attack, these soft rubber heads are ideal for log drum (or tongue drum/slit drum), melodic percussion like marimba, steel drums or other percussion/sound healing instruments that require a lighter touch.
Think mellow definition with a super warm and filling tone on whatever you're playing.
The head measure 1" in diameter, which is an industry standard size. Their weight is proportioned exactly to the handles, giving the mallets perfect balance.
Handle material
We use solid birch for the handles and round the tips for a comfortable grip. Birch provides a lightweight and balanced touch with plenty of durability.
Taking the appearance of the mallets a step further, we hand-stain the handles to bring out the natural wood grain and darken the look.
Handle length is 14 1/4" which is long enough to give you effortless reach on larger instruments like marimba while always feeling balanced no matter what you're playing on or where you grip them. Total mallet is 15 1/4" long.
Made in the U.S.A.
Really it's "Made by Penelope" or "Made by Noah".
We keep ourselves to a small, highly dedicated crew of men and women who love what they do. There aren't a ton of us, but we really know what we're doing, and we have total control over the whole process.
Most of the Timber Drum Co. crew are musicians as well as highly skilled woodworkers, so we know exactly what's demanded from a
solid
pair of percussion mallets. And when we feel we've hit the mark on a production run, we package the mallets so they're ready to ship to you.
