Paul Chen’s Hanwei Wakizashi orchid is as fast as it is beautiful, with a relatively light blade made of bent K120C steel and striking koshirae. The hamon is prominent and the fairy shows different layers. This Samurai sword features a medium-length kissaki.
The same quality (ray skin) is used in tsuka, and tsuka-ito and sageo are woven with premium Japanese cotton. Blackened iron tsuba features motifs of orchids and butterflies inlaid in silver, brass and copper.
The saya is deeply lacquered in blue with koiguchi and kurikata buffalo horn. The fuchi, kashira and kojiri are made of tanned iron with silver and gold details. The habaki is a brass construction in one piece.
