The «Wakizashi Lion Dog» from Paul Chen from Hanwei features an O-Kissaki blade from our own high alloy HWS-1S steel, combining superior performance with an exceptional O-choji hamon. This steel is manufactured in hanwei’s new factory, with high-tech equipment, which produces a very pure advanced metallurgy blade with the best edge clamping capability and the best strength of any blade ever produced by Hanwei.
The outstanding performance characteristics of the sheets forged with HWS-1S steel are derived from a combination of careful selection of alloy elements and a complex processing procedure, which basically involves handling the carbon content of steel in the blade section. This results in a very resistant blade with a hard edge and highly abrasion resistant.
The clearly detailed accessories feature a lion-dog-themed black iron tsuba, fuchi/kashira and matching golden peony menuki. The saya complex features a gloss lacquered ribbed section in the koiguchi/kurikata with the rest splash lacquered for a very attractive appearance. Premium multicolor sage is hand-woven in pure silk.
