Cold Steel - Italian long sword with sheath - Man at Arms Series
The medieval man-at-arms was a brave and loyal fighter full of bellicose heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. A veteran of countless battles, often going first to battle, though not a knight, he fought and trained side by side with them as a brother-in-arms. In honor of these robust and devoted itinerant soldiers, Cold Steel created the Man at Arms weapons collection. Compared to the premium versions of Cold Steels, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual glossy blades and silver-polished steel elements, but in terms of quality and performance, the MAA series products come close to the other products. The bluish leaves, totally sharp, are characterized by their unmistakable metallic appearance, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent and radiant beauty. The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of Cold Steel’s best leaves, but at a significantly lower price. If you’ve always wanted to have a sharp gun from Cold Steel, but have never been able to afford it, this collection is made for you.
The era of the long sword spanned nearly three centuries (from c. 1350 to 1650) and certainly because it did an excellent job. This sword had a characteristic cross hilt, a long double-edged blade, and was equally suitable for facing light enemies and heavy armor. Its particularly long blade offered the range and lever needed to be able to stab and cut, while its long quillons and heavy knob could be used as weapons of blow and could also serve to hook and unbalance the opponent or to control his weapon. When it came to piercing heavy plate armor, bladed blows were almost ineffective and were often omitted in favor of the so-called half-sword technique: in this type of fight, the swordsman held the handle with one hand and grabbed the blade. with the other, including the tip of the sword to guide more accurately and drill more accurately through the gaps and joints of the knight’s armor.
This reconstruction of Cold Steel was designed based on the design of the Italian sword. While the blade and center of gravity are more geared towards impact attacks, the sharp edges are also surprisingly effective. In addition, the simple cross-shaped design boat with its long downward-curved quillons and fish tail compensating knob offer all the possibilities of sword fighting.
Carbon Steel 1090: Carbon steel 1090 is an excellent choice for larger fixed sheets. It can be easily sharpened and retains this sharpness, but it is still sturdy enough to withstand even the most brutal stress tests. In short: a good carbon steel for all use that is still very durable even in intensive use conditions.
