Description
Austrian Rococo silver gilt and Viennese enamel tray, ca 1880. Oval enamel well depicting village green peopled with harp-strumming, minueting, love-making gentle folk. A flower wreath is suspended above a man and woman seated at a table with a scribe, quill in hand chronicling the gallantry. A charming ode to the 18th-century fete champetre. Silver-gilt filigree gallery with flower heads and scrolls. Enameled twisted-rod end handles in scrolled mounts. Four gadrooned supports.Marks include stamp for Ludwig Politzer (1841-1907), Viennese silversmith and court jeweler who exhibited at the world?s fairs in Paris in 1878 and 1900. Also, retailer's sticker for Antiques by Lilliane.
