Sealed case - No moisture build up in case or fogged dial
Be sure it is sealed. Many of the units on eBay are NOT sealed.
See a little hole on the edge or back of the case? = water and bugs.
Flats are largers to allow you get a wrench on them to install properly.
Al ittle more stainless steel costs a little bit more but makes the unit
more usable and stonger.

Accuracy is 1% of full scale is the standard +/- 5 degrees. (Some are advertised without accuracy spec or at +/- 10 degrees).

Notes on purchasing and using BBQ thermometers.
DO NOT install thermometers by turning the dial. Use a wrench on the flats.
If you feel you must adjust the thermometer, be sure to use a calibrated measurement device as a reference. Altitude alone can change the temperature of boiling water by 10 degrees in  Denver as an example.
If you have room, a longer stem is generally more accurate (we have 4? & 6? stem units available).
The location of the thermometer in the pit will affect the reading. Learn your pit and its eccentricities. You are looking for the temperature reading that works best for you.
