    Description

19th Century Syrian Dagger & Beaded Shell Sheath
This completely forged, handcrafted and beaded Syrian knife/dagger from the 19th century has a carefully shaped sheath, beaded in a style usually associated with tribes in Africa. Blade has been beautifully inscribed in Arabic dialect and motif. The beads appear to be much older, most likely passed down from generation to generation in a single family lineage. This style of knife, which are also refered to as Druze Majdali knives and very similar to the Middle Eastern 'Jambiya' knife, is very rare and was brought backby an American soldier in the early 1900's. Well preserved condition. You can see a very similar example from an online Museum Encyclopedia of Weaponry site. https://issuu.com/moseleyroadinc/docs/encyclofweaponry_lowres/34
