TOOGOOD CHAMPIONSHIP  SHIELD
ENGLISH
STERLING SILVER
BIRMINGHAM, 1905
AGRICULTURAL  PRESENTATION  AWARD  PLAQUE.
An interesting piece.
Sterling Silver Plaque hallmarked Birmingham, 1905.
Decorated with Vegetables, Plants and the British Lion holding a Globe.
It says "Toogood Chamionship Shield won by .... Presented by Toogood & Sons Southhampton. Seedsmen to the King and for 50 years to the late Queen Victoria"
It was never engraved with a recipient's name.
Nicely detailed.
Mounted on Velvet covered board or leather (we aren't sure) - similar to Edwardian silver mounted photograph frames.
A nice antique Farming / Agricultural presentation award.
Size
: about 6 1/2 inches (about 16.5 cm) by 6 3/4 inches (17.25 cm)
The easel support has broken off and is missing.
There is a hook so it can be hung on a wall.
Lots of overall tarnish and polish residue in the grooves (it needs a good cleaning).
The velvet top is almost completely worn away - the plaque has wear to the finish.
The middle of the silver shield is slightly pushed inwards - we can hear dried pitch rattling inside.
Otherwise, it is in Very Good
